Wooden Sun is open Monday through Friday, 10am to 5:30pm, and Saturday, 10am to 5pm.
Location & Directions
Wooden Sun Hearth and Grill Shop is located in the IX building in downtown Charlottesville, between Blue Wheel Bicycles and Alhamraa Restaurant (see street map below). For GPS, Mapquest and GoogleMaps instructions, please see paragraph below.
Directions from Route 29 N: Travel south on 29 until you reach the 250 Bypass. Take the exit onto 250 East. At the third stoplight, McIntire Road, turn right. Keep traveling on McIntire (it will change to Ridge street) through four stoplights. At the fifth light, turn left onto Elliott Ave. Take the second left, onto 2nd St. Drive to the end of the parking lot, Wooden Sun will be on your left.
Directions from Interstate 64: Take Exit 120, 5th St, and head north towards Charlottesville. Go through three stoplights and turn right at the fourth, Elliott Ave. Take the second left, onto 2nd St. Drive to the end of the parking lot, Wooden Sun will be on your left.
GPS Instructions Because the IX complex was developed fairly recently, there are some points to be aware of when using a GPS or online map system. Sometimes GPS devices direct folks to 2nd St. NE which is on the opposite side of the downtall mall and nowhere near the shop. Make sure to enter the "SE" designator. There are three ways to enter the IX Complex, as indicated in the map below: Elliott Avenue, Monticello Avenue and Sixth St. SE. Our shop can be reached using any of these entrances.
