About Us
A little over 25 years ago, Kim Kepchar decided to earn a little extra income on the side by starting a chimney sweeping business called Top Hats and Cat Tails. Something about a childhood experience with a chimney fire - something about the adventure of scampering around on rooftops - something about the joy and challenge of working for one's self - who knows but something hooked him.
Whatever it was, Kim has spent the better part of the last two decades developing the skills, knowledge and experience that led to the opening of Wooden Sun in 2010 with his good friend and business partner, Jonathan Schnyer. Both of us are committed to putting our knowledge and experience to work selling, installing, and servicing the highest quality, safest and most efficient hearth products. Our team at the Wooden Sun does not just care about what we sell but how we sell it.
From the moment you step foot into our retail store in the IX building, to the arrival at your home of one of our unique, integrated sales and installation teams, to the time in the future when you may need one of our hearth specialists for service - we pledge friendly, expert and timely service.
